"Each time the little sheep tried to wander away, the shepherd would quickly and gently pursue him and bring him safely back to the fold. The more the shepherd pursued him, the stronger the little sheep’s desire to explore. He began to rebel against the wishes of his master, he was determined to have his way. He felt he was now able to successfully navigate the world around him and no longer needed the guidance and direction of his shepherd. He believed he was now wise and old enough to do things on his own."

"One day the little sheep ran away from the fold as fast as he could. As he ran, the shepherd stood watching with tears in his eyes. He was sad about the choice that the little sheep made, he chose to go astray. The shepherd knew the events that were about to unfold but chose not to force his will or his way. Thought he to himself, my precious little lamb, if you only knew the pain and traps that await you out there in the places to which you run. In my love, I tried to protect you and keep you safe from harm, but you have chosen to go astray. I will, therefore, step aside and allow you to have your way. From your exploration, you will eventually learn that the best and safest place to be is here in my fold."
